Scars
They bind you to the past
Keep your present sewed up tightly
And hold back part of your future

Scars
They are physical
Always there to remind you
That everyone’s lies are true

Scars
That show on your skin
Are a constant reminder
That you’re flawed in some way

Scars
Are worse when they’re emotional
The ones no one else can see
Always do the most damage

Scars
Remind of the countless times you broke
And that there are missing pieces
Of yourself that can’t be put back together

Scars
Make you hesitate and keep you
From pressing onward in your life
You’re never at your full potential

Scars
Keep you reminded of
All your short comings
And all your failures

Scars
Remind you of hateful words
Careless people’s criticisms
About your appearance and lifestyle

Scars
Can fade with time
But they always remain
Permanently etched into your being

Scars
They fade in time
But when they resurface
You can’t escape what they hid

Scars
Bind wounds you wanted to hide
And never speak of again
Wounds you didn’t want to face

Scars
That are broken bleed
And are opened for all to see
And fair game for all to criticize

Reflective indeed...

You are beautiful! And scars can also be that, in a macabre way. They remind you that you are real, and they also remind you of what is precious in life, what to hang on to as well.

Do not complain about thorns among roses. Be grateful for roses among thorns. :rose:

:devilish: CONDEMN ME FATHER, FOR I HAVE SINNED. :devilish:

I know... I was feeling a bit masochistic the other night. And thanks, sometimes I need to hear words to contradict my morbid thoughts.

When I close my eyes I can see / The spotlights are bright on you and me / We've got the floor / And you're in my arms / How could I ask for more?
